¿What is SIELE?

SIELE is the Servicio Internacional de Evaluación de la Lengua Española, a system that assesses and certifies Spanish language skills among students and professionals, on all five continents, using electronic means. It is promoted by the Instituto Cervantes, the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México, the Universidad de Salamanca and the Universidad de Buenos Aires, which guarantee the quality of the tests and take into account all linguistic variations from a panhispanic point of view. SIELE certifies the degree of competencies in the spanish language through four tests that evaluate different linguistic skills: Reading comprehension, Listening comprehension, Written expression and interaction, and Oral expression and interaction; and the scoring corresponds to the European Council’s Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).

The SIELE Certificate is valid for 5 years.

Publication of results: maximum within three weeks.

ACCREDITING YOUR SKILL AND COMMAND OF THE SPANISH LANGUAGE IS KEY IN TODAY’S SOCIETY SIELE ADDS VALUE TO SOCIETY WITH ITS ACRONYM:

  • SERVICE
    It awards a certificate that is prestigiously recognized not only among educational institutions and members, but also in the professional, corporate, and commercial world.
  • INTERNATIONAL
    Offers a standard and objective measurement of Spanish level.
  • EVALUATION
    No passing or failing. It simply facilitates access to education and work placement for those certified. The trustworthiness of the tests is guaranteed via a psychometric analysis process by the head institutions: IC, UNAM, USAL, UBA.
  • LANGUAGE
    It is directed to both students and professionals whose first language is not Spanish, as well as native speakers who wish to accredit their linguistic skills for academic institutions, companies, and public administrations.
  • SPANISH
    It is a benchmark exam that enables educational institutions, companies and public administrations to officially accredit people’s language skills on a uniform, global level, with a high ratio of communication.
